Pauli Siponen, one of the founders of Avarrus Architects, built the hut of his dreams on his yard, combining the functions of a greenhouse and a gazebo. The hut, playfully named Grönsaksstuga (Swedish for “Veggie hut”) can be used both for gardening and as an atmospheric space for dinner parties surrounded with plants. A wood-fired stove makes the hut usable also beyond the Finnish summer months.

The ”plant hut”, resembling a small traditional Finnish barn but made out of glass, beautifully blends into the historical rapids milieu of Vanhakaupunki, Helsinki. The simple structure was born out of desire to create quality that endures time. Wooden components of the hut are oak and the glass structure is supported by diagonal tension rods of steel. The plinth and the impressive stove chimney are made of brick, laid by the architect himself.
